Poster Release 2/08/07
Ugh, sorry for waiting so long to do a release! Usually we don't wait until we have 10 posters to release at once.... Here's a little info for each:
Jam Cruise 5 Set Singles -
These were sold as singles and as an uncut (shown below) on Jam Cruise. Each one is printed in 7 colors with extra margin so they could be signed by the bands.
Jam Cruise Collage - This print was designed early in the year as a single print and t-shirt design for Jam Cruise. Printed in 6 colors.
SOLD OUT - Jam Cruise Uncut - The same as the 2 separate posters, just on a single sheet of paper
Derek Trucks Portrait - Over the last few years The Derek Trucks Band has become one of the studio's favorites. Through Derek and The Brothers, we've also accumulated an extended family with the Hittin' The Note folks in Hotlanta. This print is the first of what looks like may become a series for them.
Perpetual Groove Winter Tour - Part Deux of the Fall/Winter set for our buddies in PGroove. The Fall poster was done in hot tones, and this one in cool.... another 6 color print.
Galpin Auto Sports - This print will be in the store for a very limited time only. A collaboration with Stainboy in 9 colors for the team that got famous for Pimp My Ride....
Umphrey's McGee NYE- Part of a 3 part/3 night run of music w/posters.... together with Jim Pollock's print for the 31st, these prints fit together side by side as a montage. Both artists used the same color scheme and when you put them next to each other, the roads line up together! There are handbills with these as well.
New Monsoon NYE- Last, but certainly not least is the NYE print for our friends in New Monsoon. The little fella sure looks all zen, doesn't he? The guys almost got snowed out for this one, but we hear the shows were outstanding! Way to make it through a blizzard, guys!

Poster Release for 12/07/06 - Last Release for 2006!
The elves are working hard this week to get everything prepped for a smooth release of the above prints on Thursday this week. Here's more details about each:
Rokerij Coffee Shops
The owners and staff at the Rokerij were all very pleased with this print - the mandala includes many images that make this print just perfect for the Rokerij. The blue reflects the blue fluorescent used at the entry of each location, and there is a beautiful large eye mosaic on the floor of the Rokerij right off the Leidseplein. If you've ever been to The Rokerij, you know what I'm talking about!
Moe. Fall Tour #2 Gimme some moe.! In order to get the posters for this tour printed on time, the tour was broken into halves with one color used for the background on the 1st printing & the pretty blue as pictured above for the 2nd half of the tour. We only have 30 of these available.
All American Rejects Tournado Johnny Thief inked up a whirlwind of an illustration for The All American Rejects Fall Tournado. A powerful poster for a powerful band!
The Derek Trucks Band and Susan Tedeschi Tour Poster A very special print for a very special tour! Derek and Susan's guitars nestled together seemed like a proper way to commemorate the couple's tour dates together. We have less than 50 available.

Alrighty, We Are Back!
What can we say? Amsterdam was a much needed rest for us, but we're back now and getting all caught up on work. I'll post a few paragraphs about the trip on the DCS Blog when I get the orders caught up. If you placed an order while we were gone, it should be shipped within the next few days. Please be patient as we want to make sure everything goes out correctly! Our next release is tenetively scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 7.

New Store Navigation Tips
We are starting to subdivide our print categories in the web store. There is now a section under the Posters, Serigraphs & Giclees link titled Screen Printed Art Prints & Giclees where all non-event prints will be listed. Also, we've added a One-of-a-kind section for items we will be adding to the web site as we are able. Included there may be band autographed prints, framed prints, and prints by other artists each described for you in detail. Due to space issues, we have also decided to clean out some of the prints we have collected over the last few years... look for a Flatstock2 lot, and other individual & lots of prints we just don't have room to keep. As items go up into the new sections, they will also be listed in the New Releases section for at least a month or until they are sold. All updates will be announced there and on our DCS Blog.

Moe. Fall Tour Posters; Act I & Act II
Well, seeing as there just wasn't a way to confirm all moe. fall tour dates in time to get them all on one poster, creating a matched set seemed like a good alternative. The first one (on the left) is avaialble on tour starting tomorrow night for the 9/14 throuugh 9/24 dates. These are 5 color silk screens, and yes, that is metallic gold.

Book News

Look for posters from Drowning Creek Studio in the new Art of Modern Rock book, co-authored by Paul Grushkin and Dennis King. The book is now available, and is the long awaited (and amazing) follow-up to Grushkin's first book, The Art of Rock. No poster collector should be without this beautiful book!

Customer Service Excellence 2004 - Drowning Creek was chosen by researchers at the Southwest Retail Center for Research and Excellence, University of Arizona, to be included in this book for our outstanding practices in customer service. The study was conducted for the NRF (National Retail Federation) Foundation through a grant from American Express. Many thanks!

Well, we are in the SWAG book, too. All 3 submissions we made were used. Yay us.

Author and teacher David P. Szatmary included 2 Drowning Creek posters as illustrations in his Fifth Edition of Rockin' in Time: A Social History of Rock-and-Roll. Thanks so much, David!!

Other Past Studio News

Congratulations Krys & Matt!!
Hope your Jazz Fest Wedding was all that and more!! We wish we could have been there, and we will expect to see pics when we see you next!

Drowning Creek Funny FigJeff tips his hat to Rick Griffin for his contribution to the Funny Club show.

Buyer Beware!

Attn. Collectors - There are unsigned copies of Low Brow Ink prints that have been sold by the contract printer we paid to print them circulating. These are possibly misprints and are not signed, numbered, or considered any part of the "official" limited edition.

FYI: Be careful when shopping on eBay for poster art. There have been multiple recent instances of very bad quality photo copies or digital prints of some of Drowning Creek's posters being sold by various sellers. If you see an auction for a print that looks suspicious, contact us and we'll verify its authenticity - or not.

Ordering Info

Drowning Creek's store is a secure site, & orders are encrypted using Thawte security. Any personal information, including credit card info, is stored in an encrypted form for a short time before being deleted from our hard drive in the shop.

All posters are shipped rolled. We tried sending some flat, but a high percentage of those were damaged in the mail. We ship in heavy-duty Yazoo Mills tubes so that your order will arrive in good condition.

Please allow up to a week for us to process orders. During the spring & summer, we travel a lot to events. We'll ship your order asap!

Poster measurements are approximate - the actual size may vary slightly from the even measurements listed with each poster. Wait until you have the print before you order a frame!
