New Posters for Sale 5.12.06
Alrighty, then.... yes, I'm missing my 2pm deadline, and you have my apologies for that, but it's been a little busy here this month. We're up to our eyeballs in packaging prints, framing and conquer ing the world, but we promised new posters, and albeit late, new posters is what you are going to get today! Here's a little info on each one:
Expresso Beans #11 "Rapa Nui Dreams - The Missing Link
We've been sitting on this one for a while... it was printed in 2005 when we had a break in our schedule, and has been the best kept secret at DCS for the last months. There's a cool story about this artwork, but you'll have to visit Expresso Beans to read it. If you are not familiar with EB, take a little while and check the place out. It is a non-profit organization dedication to promoting the arts, and run by dedicated art enthusiasts.
Keller Williams/Almost Acoustic/Grateful Grass
As years-long fans of Keller's music, we could not have been happier than to get to design and print a poster for him finally! Done in the Aboriginal style Jeff has been exploring recently, this poster is rich in color and detail.
New Monsoon Spring Tour '06 Staying with the Traveling Gypsies Fall Tour theme, we flipped and reworked the beautiful gypsy mama illustrated by Johnny Thief to make the 2 posters make a set.
O.A.R. Spring Tour '06 In an extended take of Storm Thorgerson's earlier poster/album art for O.A.R., Jeff carries the theme through to this poster by utilikzing the elements of the other.
Sasquatch Music Festval/Gomez This one will be released later after the event, but we wanted to post the picture now....
New Monsoon Into the Mission Artist Eric Erickson provided the central image of the Dia de los Muertos skull for this festive print. Fabulous detail abounds here....
Gathering of Nations Jeff was commissioned last year to create this poster for thhe world's largest Pow wow held each year in Albuquerque, NM. This poster is also highly detailed, and draws heavily on Native American symbology.
And last, The Da'mage Series There's a long story about these prints, but we'll just leave it at - "Faux posters for faux bands & venues." These were to be part of an ongoing series, but the company that commissioned them sort of screwed us, so we're offering them as a set for a very low price if anyone wants their very own set of faux rock posters.

Book News

Look for posters from Drowning Creek Studio in the new Art of Modern Rock book, co-authored by Paul Grushkin and Dennis King. The book is now available, and is the long awaited (and amazing) follow-up to Grushkin's first book, The Art of Rock. No poster collector should be without this beautiful book!

Customer Service Excellence 2004 - Drowning Creek was chosen by researchers at the Southwest Retail Center for Research and Excellence, University of Arizona, to be included in this book for our outstanding practices in customer service. The study was conducted for the NRF (National Retail Federation) Foundation through a grant from American Express. Many thanks!

Well, we are in the SWAG book, too. All 3 submissions we made were used. Yay us.

Author and teacher David P. Szatmary included 2 Drowning Creek posters as illustrations in his Fifth Edition of Rockin' in Time: A Social History of Rock-and-Roll. Thanks so much, David!!

Ordering Info

Drowning Creek's store is a secure site, & orders are encrypted using Thawte security. Any personal information, including credit card info, is stored in an encrypted form for a short time before being deleted from our hard drive in the shop. Because we use frames on our site, the secure lock and "https" normally associated with secure sites does not show on the ordering page, but rest assured, your information is indeed encrypted and going through a secure server.

Most posters are shipped rolled. We tried sending posters flat, but a high percentage of those were damaged in the mail. We ship in heavy-duty Yazoo Mills tubes so that your order will arrive as it was sent. Tubes are very carefully packed, and need to be very carefully unpacked. We will not replace posters damaged as a result of being bent or creased when removed from the tube. Please unpack your posters carefully by twisting the contents so that they loosen enough in the tube to be removed without damaging the posters.

Please allow up to 2 weeks for us to process orders. During the year, we travel a lot to events. We'll ship your order asap when we return. The retail end of our studio is an important part of our business, but we are also packing and shipping large orders to our band clients. If your order is placed during us trying to meet a deadline for a tour, your package will be packed as soon as we get the band's prints off to them.

Poster measurements are approximate - the actual size will proabably vary from the even measurements listed with each poster. It's always a good idea to wait until you have the print before you order a matte & frame.

Etc.
