Hope You Got One.....

-

....because I don't think there are any left! Jeff Wood & Al McWhite teamed up on the 311 poster for the Atlanta show date August 22. Artist Richard Biffle designed this year's Hookahville poster featuring Ekoostik Hookah, George Clinton & crew, the Steve Kimock Band, Dark Star Orchestra, Railroad Earth et al. Both posters were sold at the venue, and unfortunately we do not have any of these for sale... just wanted to post the pretty jpegs so ya'll would know what we've been up to the last month.

Built To Spill Poster Series

_

Artist Jermaine Rogers organized a phenomenal series of posters covering 36 dates of Built To Spill's Sept/Oct fall tour. More than 30 artists participated in this unprecedented project. Each artist will also have a limited number of copies to sell themselves. The poster on the left is the Drowning Creek contribution to the project and the one on the right is Jason Cooper's contribution. Both have been printed here at Drowning Creek.

These paintings were done by Scramble Campbell and Richard Biffle on stage with The Dead as they played the Bonnaroo Music Fest (Left), and at Red Rocks this summer. There will be an edition of giclee prints done for each and soon available from the artists' web sites. The size is a huge 40x40" and they are being imaged here at Drowning Creek.

New from artist Andrew Bawidamann

_ _

We've got 3 posters by incredible pinup artist Andrew Bawidimann in the store and ready to ship! The Rev. Horton Heat poster is a big 20"x30" and nothing less than hot, if you don't mind the pun! It's a 7 color screenprint printed on 80# Living Tree Paper. The other poster was created for Heavy Rebel Weekender and was a hit at the show. The large goldish areas are indeed metallic ink. Also a 7 color screenprint, this poster measures in at approx. 15"x22." (summer 2003)

Licensed Pieces on Tour
If you are out and about hitting lots of shows this summer, you might have seen this image being used for Incubus' stage back drop and tour t-shirts. Painting by artist Dave Crosland was originally used on a DCS gig poster for an Incubus show last year. The band saw the poster and licensed the art for this summer's tour. Image is ©2003 Dave Crosland under license to Signatures Network.

_

Keep an eye out for this Heart design, ©2003 Jason Goad under license to Signatures Network, that features the illustrative talents of Mr. Jason Goad. Design is printed on black sleeved baseball jerseys and can be purchased through the band's website.

Book News

Look for posters from Drowning Creek Studio in the new Art of Modern Rock book, co-authored by Paul Grushkin and Dennis King. The book is now available, and is the long awaited (and amazing) follow-up to Grushkin's first book, The Art of Rock. No poster collector should be without this beautiful book!

Well, we are in the SWAG book, too. All 3 submissions we made were used. Yay us.

DCS in print!
Check it, yo.... many thanks to Headquest Magazine for the bitchin' spread in this month's magazine! The article was written by Johnny Thief, at the request of HQ. And no, we didn't tell him what to say, but who better to write the article than someone who watched DCS evolve from the first printing on our kitchen table? Johnny is also this month's featured cover artist. Congrats, Johnny!

Richard Biffle, Stanley Mouse, Mike Dubois, Mikio Kennedy, Rob Cohn, Jeff Wood, Scramble Campbell, Kesey and more all at Funky Monkey Art Show in Boulder Co., July 4th-30. Thanks to Ray at The Funky Monkey and Mr. Biffle for putting this together! (July 2003)

Jeff was asked to do Trey Anastasio's Spring Tour Poster.... what a pleasure it was to work with the Phish Drygoods crew! The poster was only available at the shows, and it's our understanding that the 750 pc edition sold out before the tour was over. FYI, we do not have any of these, so begging by email won't help! Jeff also designed one of the shirt designs for the tour. Both the poster and the shirt design are ©Phish Drygoods. (Spring 2003)

Ordering Info

Drowning Creek's store is a secure site, & orders are encrypted using Thawte security. Any personal information, including credit card info, is stored in an encrypted form for a short time before being deleted from our hard drive in the shop. Because we use frames on our site, the secure lock and "https" normally associated with secure sites does not show on the ordering page, but rest assured, your information is indeed encrypted and going through a secure server.

Most posters are shipped rolled. We tried sending posters flat, but a high percentage of those were damaged in the mail. We ship in heavy-duty Yazoo Mills tubes so that your order will arrive as it was sent. Tubes are very carefully packed, and need to be very carefully unpacked. We will not replace posters damaged as a result of being bent or creased when removed from the tube. Please unpack your posters carefully by twisting the contents so that they loosen enough in the tube to be removed without damaging the posters.

Poster measurements are approximate - the actual size will proabably vary from the even measurements listed with each poster. It's always a good idea to wait until you have the print before you order a matte & frame.
