A Late Thanks Giving & Christmas Deadline Post
As I sit here reflecting on the past weeks and the year in general, I find myself overwhelmingly thankful for many things. Most immediately I find myself thankful for all of you who have sent heartfelt and sincere notes of thanks to Jeff and me for our art and our customer service following the release debacle of last week and the knowledge that there are far more of you who truly appreciate the work we have chosen to dedicate our hearts towards than there are people who want to criticize us. I've been trying to get personal thanks to all of you, but just in case I missed anyone - Thank You. You are the reason we do what we do. Yes, we also do it because this is what we love, but having such a receptive audience that responds to the art is the icing that keeps the cake warm and fresh for us.
This year marks the 7th that we have been exclusively making our way in the world through the independent diligence of pursuing gig poster art and art that is not done for or through another agency. When we started this little adventure, we had no idea where it would lead and we gambled everything we had to see if we could pull this off. We maxed out credit cards and took on huge leases for the equipment we needed to be able to print our own work. We've spent long hours in the studio both tackling design work and printing and then packaging the final pieces to ship off to all corners of the world. Some of our closest friends know just how much time we've spent doing this and many more of you have a pretty good idea.
Throughout this adventure, we've both found out things about ourselves and we've grown in ways that I would not have imagined had I given it any thought 10 or 15 years ago. We've gone from just the 2 of us to having a staff and then back now to just the 2 of us. We've gone from no one knowing who we were to being published in the books that define the very field in which we work. And in many instances, support has come from so many different sources that it's sometimes hard to keep up with them.
The one thing that has remained constant throughout these last years is change. And change we have. That change is continuing and soon, you will see it manifest itself into a new web site with lots of new content. You're also going to see more art prints and photography and stories to go along with all of the changes. We are looking forward to this and will rededicate ourselves to the process of evolving.
From the very bottom of my heart, thank you..... ALL of you who have ever made a purchase from Drowning Creek, sent a letter of encouragement, or let us know you were there if we needed your help.
CHRISTMAS DEADLINES: Please have any orders that are intended as Christmas gifts in here by December 8th. I will be caught up on orders by Monday the 3rd and that leaves only 5 days to get orders in.... I want to ship all Christmas packages by Friday, December 14 as that is the deadline the Post Office is pushing for pre-Christmas deliveries.
Thanks again and much love,
Judy
