Those Crazy Dutch

An interesting little flyer we found wandering around. It was cool finding out the Dutch people sympathize with the American's who feel so trapped over here. At least they realize that we had nothing to do with putting this guy in office and invite us to move over!

The anti-Bush stuff was posted here and there and we saw lots of stencil art.

Dutch Graffiti

I took lots of pics of crazy ass street art! This piece just popped up as you rounded a corner near El Guapo Coffeeshop. Great effect!

Mouse: The Herb

In honor of Stanley....his own grass. Code Name: Mouse

Steve Hager got a chuckle when I called the grass "Stanley" one evening while judging. Powerful, trippy stuff just like, well....Mouse Art. Hager loves Mouse's art and seeing as how Mouse gave me a break (unintentionally) when his Cup art was turned down by the Native celebs at the 96 Cup and I got asked to a quick replacement, I felt it as appropriate that Stanley got his props at this cup. I think he would approve! The "Mouse" herb was entered by Blue Velvet Coffeeshop. Very sweet stuff!

Here's to you Stanley. Wish you could have been there to burn one with me.

Now that's a stoner rock artist's dream...smoking a spliff of Mouse with Mouse. Maybe someday...

And the Winner Is......

WILLIE NELSON!! entered by Barney's. Sweet, fruity and man, what a high. Judy and I smoked a little stash of this all week and that is sayin g a lot considering we had our choice of over 30 kinds of weed.

A little about where Willie came from: http://www.barneys.biz/

The celeb judges were taken to Barney's for the full blown Dutch treatment one morning and it was one of the highlights of the trip.

Barney's is known for it's killer English Breakfasts and pancakes. If you go to Amsterdam, you must check this place out.

We arrived to a packed house and were immediately ushered to the best table in house overlooking the street. After several joints and bowls of hash we were met by Reeferman of Reeferman Seeds. His Love Potion herb won the Cup last year and he was very proud of his Willie Herb that Barney was entering this time around. (We had no idea which grass we were smoking due to the fact that High Times had put code names on each so we would be blind testing. Guess what...we still wound up picking Willie as one of favorites! It's code name was Sparrow)

When the Breakfast came we were ready to say the least. The food was out of this world. It's hard to describe the feeling of sitting in a cozy little coffeshop with the best herb in the world and then being served up some of the best food you could imagine. Absolutely the best feeling in the world...and we call Amerika Free? I've never felt more free than in Amsterdam that morning.

This picture makes me drool....ahhhhh the memories.

It's a Tough Job....

So, I'm seated in a room with 26 strains of cannabis, 13 chunks of imported Hash and 6 types of Bubblehash (affectionately called "Hippie Crack") and still have MANY more samples to go before the judging is finished. I have tried them all in 4 days. It's like choosing a winner from the best of the best. Damn near impossible, but a hell of a lot of fun. I love Amsterdam, nuff said.

To say my brain has been set to "reset" is an UNDERSTATEMENT.

As I find a spare moment to blog I'll do an entry and post a pic of the winner...

Drowning Creek Takes a Real Vacation

Well, it's been years since we took some real down time where we could just turn our brains off, and enjoy life. Yeah, we go to lots of festivals, and such, but those are usually working trips, and we always come home exhausted. This time, we should be able to actually relax.

Jeff & I will be gone from November 12th to 26th to Amsterdam, NL for the 18th Annual Cannabis Cup. We will get to see Patti Smith on Thanksgiving, eat Dutch pastries for breakfast, and conduct a little coffee shop tour. Heineken is def on the agenda, as is the Red Light District, the Van Gogh Museum, and the Anne Frank House.

Store orders taken from Nov. 10-27 will be processed and packaged upon our return starting Nov. 28. Please allow us the time to get the orders sorted, so we can start shipping as soon as possible!!
