Donate Today: Ron Paul Tea Party '07

We don't often use our business blog for political stumping, but this is a candidate both Jeff and myself are willing to stand behind. Today is the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party and also a one day internet fund raising drive for Mr. Paul:

On December 16th, 1773,
American colonists dumped tea into the Boston Harbor
to protest an illegal and oppressive tax.

This December 16th American citizens will dump
millions of dollars into the Ron Paul campaign to protest
the illegal and oppressive inflation tax.

Please join us this December 16th for the
largest one day political donation event in history.

Check This Shizzle!! It's HOT!!!!

Drowning Creek Studio is proud to announce their affiliation with The Faded Line, an art lovers place to find cool wardrobe additions and accessories. The clothing items are not your Cafe Press type digitally printed transfers; these are high quality screen printed clothing items geared for years of washing and wearing. The Gelaskins are beautiful up close!

From the web site:
Welcome to The Faded Line Clothing Co., we're glad you're here. The concept behind our company is based on our love for apparel and our appreciation (obsession) of art. Why not further juxtapose them to make an impressive clothing line? That's what we did and that's why you are here.

It is quite common for bands to receive more credit for their merchandise designs than the illustrators themselves. Times are changing. Our goal is to further expose these incredible artists to the masses. It's only fair, right?

The Faded Line Clothing Co. has the privilege of working with some of today's top illustrators. These designs have been seen on rock posters and art prints for many years and now we can finally "wear" the art.

Enjoy the line! We'll be updating the store with new merchandise as time permits. We have MANY ideas on how we can all further enjoy the art and think you'll be pleasantly surprised with our dreams. Sign up for our newsletter to receive up-to-date information, promotions and sales. Don't worry; we'll guard it with our lives!

Congratulations, Faded Line, on your successful opening!! May it be a long and prosperous venture!!

Look For DCS Posters in Guitar Hero III!

Yup, there's a few Drowning Creek Johnny DiDonna/Jeff Wood collabs up in there.... every time you get paid, look for the Umphrey's McGee South Bend print. It's also my understanding that at least 2 Drowning Creek Studio Alumni, Jeff Gaither and Jeral Tidwell, also have artwork in this version. Congrats, guys! Looking good!More pics:

Order Shipping Update

Heya Gang,

Friday morning, the DCS shipping monkey broke. Well, not really broke, but threw her back out rendering her into a helpless pile of pathetic all weekend. Though she'd like to tell y'all it happened while doing something really cool like base jumping off buildings in ATL, it was just a leaning-over-disc-slipping incident. The shipping monkey is on her way to the chiropractor and should be back in working order tomorrow. We apologize for the delay, but at least it was on a weekend instead of the middle of the week. All shipping will be done by Saturday of this week.

The Stacks are getting Smaller!

We've been feverishly adding new items to our Scratch & Dent section since we added that new section to our web site. We were totally expecting it to be a success, but the response has been phenomenal.

For those of you who don't know what's up with this section, we created the Scratch & Dent section because over the years, we've had posters become damaged through handling or displaying or for completely unknown reasons. They've been stacking up and taking up space and even though we've auctioned some in the last years, we're still got a huge number of them left.

Most of the pieces are not heavily damaged and will look just fine tacked to a wall. Or framed, if that's what you prefer.

Also, in the regular section on the retail site, some of you may notice some increases in pricing on some prints. This is due to the low number of available prints still left for sale. We've not had time to make a list yet, but there are dozens of prints in the store that we have less than a dozen still available. I've been moving listings to the archive section weekly. For example, there are only 3 Clinic, 6 Tenacious D, 2 Beth Orton, and 3 Candy Snatchers posters left. And that's just a quick glance at the inventory sheet. Not so far in the near future, there will be no more Derek Trucks/Susan Tedeschi Fall Tour '06 or any of the PNE Audioslave posters available thought Drowning Creek any longer. If you've been putting off purchasing something, now is a good time to finally get that print you want. When we put up the new web site, we'll be raising the prices on a lot of the almost gone posters!

A Late Thanks Giving & Christmas Deadline Post

As I sit here reflecting on the past weeks and the year in general, I find myself overwhelmingly thankful for many things. Most immediately I find myself thankful for all of you who have sent heartfelt and sincere notes of thanks to Jeff and me for our art and our customer service following the release debacle of last week and the knowledge that there are far more of you who truly appreciate the work we have chosen to dedicate our hearts towards than there are people who want to criticize us. I've been trying to get personal thanks to all of you, but just in case I missed anyone - Thank You. You are the reason we do what we do. Yes, we also do it because this is what we love, but having such a receptive audience that responds to the art is the icing that keeps the cake warm and fresh for us.

This year marks the 7th that we have been exclusively making our way in the world through the independent diligence of pursuing gig poster art and art that is not done for or through another agency. When we started this little adventure, we had no idea where it would lead and we gambled everything we had to see if we could pull this off. We maxed out credit cards and took on huge leases for the equipment we needed to be able to print our own work. We've spent long hours in the studio both tackling design work and printing and then packaging the final pieces to ship off to all corners of the world. Some of our closest friends know just how much time we've spent doing this and many more of you have a pretty good idea.

Throughout this adventure, we've both found out things about ourselves and we've grown in ways that I would not have imagined had I given it any thought 10 or 15 years ago. We've gone from just the 2 of us to having a staff and then back now to just the 2 of us. We've gone from no one knowing who we were to being published in the books that define the very field in which we work. And in many instances, support has come from so many different sources that it's sometimes hard to keep up with them.

The one thing that has remained constant throughout these last years is change. And change we have. That change is continuing and soon, you will see it manifest itself into a new web site with lots of new content. You're also going to see more art prints and photography and stories to go along with all of the changes. We are looking forward to this and will rededicate ourselves to the process of evolving.

From the very bottom of my heart, thank you..... ALL of you who have ever made a purchase from Drowning Creek, sent a letter of encouragement, or let us know you were there if we needed your help.

CHRISTMAS DEADLINES: Please have any orders that are intended as Christmas gifts in here by December 8th. I will be caught up on orders by Monday the 3rd and that leaves only 5 days to get orders in.... I want to ship all Christmas packages by Friday, December 14 as that is the deadline the Post Office is pushing for pre-Christmas deliveries.

Thanks again and much love,
Judy
